Leading the Future: Reflections from the Nobel Biocare Global Symposium 2025

By Rob Dulieu, Prosthetist & Co-Founder – Next Smile Australia

A Global Stage for Innovation

Las Vegas. Over 1,700 dental professionals. 75+ world-class speakers. One powerful vision.

It was an honour to represent Next Smile Australia at the Nobel Biocare Global Symposium 2025 — one of the most respected international events in implant dentistry. Standing alongside my long-time colleague Dr Larry Benge, we proudly contributed to a global conversation about the future of full arch rehabilitation.

This wasn’t just a conference — it was a celebration of 60 years of implantology, a look ahead at AI-powered dentistry, and a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.

Our Contribution: Sharing Expertise on a Global Stage

I was fortunate to lead a Masterclass alongside Diogo Fimino and Professor Markus Blatz, focused on the impact of lab decisions in driving treatment outcomes. It was a deep dive into the kind of technical precision that turns great dentistry into exceptional results.

Meanwhile, Dr Larry Benge joined Dr Enrico Agliardi to deliver a high-impact, hands-on session on Zygoma implant techniques. Their collaboration led into a live surgical demonstration by none other than Professor Paulo Malo, founder of the All-on-4® treatment concept — a true highlight of the event.

It was an unforgettable experience and a proud moment for the ANZ region to be so strongly represented.

Why I Attend Events Like This

These summits aren’t just about clinical techniques — they’re about keeping our vision sharp and patient-focused.

Here’s what motivates me:

  • Helping patients transform their lives — beyond aesthetics, it’s about restoring confidence and dignity.
  • Managing the complex cases — where others say, "too hard", we say “let’s find a way”.
  • Making treatment accessible — through flexible payment plans and IV sedation options, we remove barriers.

Whether it’s through ground-breaking technology or patient-first strategies, we’re always looking for ways to raise the standard of care.

What I’m Bringing Back to Australia

There was no shortage of inspiration at the symposium, but two key takeaways stood out:

  • The integration of AI into digital workflows, improving speed and accuracy in treatment planning.
  • Advances in immediate loading protocols, allowing patients to leave with a functional smile in as little as 24 hours.

We’re already applying these tools at Next Smile clinics around the country, so our patients benefit from the latest global thinking — right here at home.

The Takeaway: It’s About More Than Teeth

A speaker from Ritz-Carlton made a comment that’s stuck with me:

“People don’t choose us because of the product — they come for how we make them feel.”

That’s exactly how we see our role. It’s not just about dental implants — it’s about the stories we help rewrite, the smiles we restore, and the dignity we give back.

The technical excellence is a given. But it’s the emotional impact that truly defines what we do.

Looking Ahead

We’re already counting down to the next big milestone:
