Additionally, single dental implant treatment involves the placement of one implant at a time, with a healing period between each implant placement. Once the implants have integrated with the jawbone, individual crowns or bridges can be attached to replace missing teeth. This approach can be effective for treating individual missing teeth or smaller gaps in the smile, but it may not be the best option for patients who have lost all or most of their teeth in one or both arches.

As opposed to Next Smile Australia’s two-stage Malo Protocol, regular implants follow a five-stage process to receive implants as a form of dental restoration. The process is as follows:

  1. The damaged or decayed tooth is removed.
  2. Bone grafting is undertaken if needed.
  3. The dental implant is then surgically inserted into the jawbone.
  4. Over the next few months, the bone fuses with the implant and begins to heal.
  5. Once the area around the implant has healed, the artificial tooth (crown) is placed.

If you have multiple missing teeth and want to restore your smile, All-on-4® dental implants may be the solution for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

My patient has bone loss in the jaw – can they still have implants? What are the options if they don’t have enough bone volume for treatments like All-on-4®?

In many cases, yes. The All-on-4® treatment concept is specifically designed for patients with reduced bone volume, often avoiding the need for grafting by placing angled implants in areas with stronger bone. For patients with more advanced bone loss, we also perform zygomatic and quad zygoma procedures, which use the cheekbone to securely anchor implants. With full diagnostic imaging, we can determine the most suitable treatment option for your patient

Why would I recommend All-on-4® over traditional dentures?

All-on-4® provides patients with a fixed, stable solution that looks and feels like natural teeth. Unlike dentures, it prevents movement, supports the jawbone to reduce bone loss, restores full chewing function, and enhances both comfort and confidence. Patients also leave surgery with a provisional fixed bridge the same day, offering a faster return to normal life.

How do I know if All-on-4® is right for my patient?

Suitability depends on factors such as bone quality, oral health, and medical history. Every referred patient undergoes a thorough clinical and radiographic assessment. If All-on-4® is the right solution, we’ll confirm that with you. If not, we’ll provide alternative options. Either way, the consultation is completely free, so your patient gets clarity without pressure.

How involved will I be after I refer my patient?

We welcome and encourage collaboration. Referring dentists are invited to attend surgery, be part of treatment discussions, and stay informed at every stage. This ensures your patient receives continuity of care and feels supported by both their trusted dentist and our surgical team.
