What are Zygomatic Dental Implants?
Zygomatic implants are designed to provide support for a full arch of teeth in cases where there is insufficient bone in the upper jaw to support traditional implant placement. The procedure involves anchoring the implant into the zygomatic bone (cheekbone), which provides a more secure foundation for the All-on-4® dental implant.
Zygomatic dental implants are typically longer than traditional implants and are placed at a 45-degree angle in the jawbone to maximise support and stability and remove the need for bone grafts.
Zygomatic implants are specialised dental implants designed for patients with severe bone loss in the upper jaw. These implants provide a stable foundation for the attachment of dental prosthetics/bridges when traditional implants cannot be used due to inadequate bone structure. As with the All-on-4® technique, new teeth can be usually connected to them within 1-2 days of the surgery. Depending on the outcome of your diagnostic x-rays, zygomatic dental implants places into the zygomatic bone may be offered where the amount of bone available in the upper jaw is insufficient. You may only require one zygomatic implant or as many as 4 zygomatic implants.
